According to the Economic Policy Institute, the U.S. lost 2.4 million manufacturing jobs to China from 2001 to 2013. But as the costs of shipping and overseas labor grow, some firms are bringing jobs back to the U.S. And in Oregon, some never left. Here are 27 products made in our state, from tortilla chips to computer chips.

Boeing's plant in Gresham is one of 11 locations across the globe that builds parts for the company's commercial airplanes. The Gresham facility manufactures engine mounts, gear boxes, landing gear beams and flight controls systems for Boeing's 7-series planes, including the 747 and the 787 Dreamliner.

These meatless products are made in Hood River, where Turtle Island Foods' built a $10 million food processing plant in 2011.

Leatherman multi-tools have been manufactured in Portland for more than 30 years. The company now makes its tools out of a plant in Northeast Portland, near Cascade Station.

Known throughout the world for its custom motorcycle leathers, the Langlitz Leathers shop on Southeast Division Street is approaching its 70th birthday. Though it keeps a stock selection of jackets and pants, it specializes in custom-made leathers, all cut and sewn in-shop. This process takes about two days for a jacket, and high demand has created a 2-3 month backlog for orders.

About 15 years ago, jam giant Smuckers offered to buy Beaverton Foods for $17 million, but the family-run company turned them down. Instead, it moved to a larger facility in Hillsboro, where it makes its popular Beaver Brand mustard and Inglehoffer horseradish.

Those containers of potato salad available in grocery stores throughout the nation are made at the Reser's Fine Foods facilities in Beaverton, among other factories throughout the country. The company is also known for its macaroni salad and Baja Cafe salsas.

Greenbrier makes freight railcars like this one – as well as marine barges – at its flagship manufacturing site in industrial Northwest Portland. The company has other manufacturing locations throughout the world, but designs and engineers new rail cars in Portland.

Tillamook Cheese, made at the factory in ... you guessed it – Tillamook. (Though the company also has a factory in Boardman.) The Tillamook factory offers free tours daily, if you want to learn more about the cheese-making process.

Hillsboro company FEI makes high-powered microscopes that are used in a wide range of industries, from oil exploration to oncology.

Roseburg Forest Products, now based in Springfield, manufactures hardwood plywood used for cupboards out of its plant in Dillard.

Kettle Chips is now owned by Diamond Foods, but a portion of the potato chips are still made in a factory in Salem. Last year, the company unveiled another Salem facility that will test new products.

The most valuable Oregon-made products, pound-for-pound, may be the leading edge microprocessors Intel makes at its Ronler Acres campus near Hillsboro Stadium. They're the brains inside your PC, Mac and in some of the new

Smith Teakmaker blends and packages its teas in its Portland facilities before distributing them to cafes, shops, hotels and restaurants throughout the world. You can see production in action at its two Portland tasting rooms.

Despite a recent takeover by Berkshire Hathaway, Precision Castparts still manufactures heavy-duty components, like aircraft engine parts, at its Portland facilities. The company provides components to manufacturers like Airbus, Boeing, GE and Rolls-Royce, and boasts that nearly every aircraft in the sky flies with parts made by Precision Castparts.

Dave's Killer Bread was bought by Georgia-based Flower Foods last year, but the company still operates out of its "BreadQuarters" in Milwaukie, where it bakes the majority of its loaves.

The ESCO Corporation, which has been headquartered in NW Portland for more than 100 years, makes teeth for excavator buckets at its local facility.

While much of Nike's products are made in Asia, the apparel giant engineers and manufactures air soles near its headquarters in Beaverton. These soles are used for its Air footwear line, including the Max 1 Ultra Flyknit, its Women’s Zoom Strong, pictured.

Juanita's Tortilla Chips

These beloved tortilla chips are made right in Hood River and sold throughout the West. The family-run company is named after its matriarch, and the corn chips have gained popularity in recent years.

Have you visited your dentist recently? You might have sat in a chair manufactured by A-dec, a dental equipment company based in Newberg. Every year, the company ships thousands of chairs to dentists around the world.

Bob's Red Mill grains

Bob's Red Mill has come a long way in recent years. It now stocks grocery stores throughout the country with its flours, cereals and grains, and the company's bright-red store and restaurant, visible from Highway 224 in Milwaukie, is only one of its facilities. Its offices and mill are located a couple miles down the road, and the company also operates a distribution and fulfillment center in Clackamas.

Daimler Trucks North America's $150 million headquarters on Swan Island includes its Western Star factory, where it makes vehicles used in industries like logging, construction, mining and towing, as well as long haul.

Established in Portland in 1920, the Dehen Knitting Company started out knitting varsity and collegiate sweaters for student athletes. By the 1950s, the company added a varsity jacket to its offerings, making each jacket by hand for lucky letterers. Though the company has evolved, it still makes all its jackets and sweaters in Portland.

The broths, soups and non-dairy beverages from this Tualatin company are sold throughout the nation.

Every iPhone is equipped with a radio filter made by Qorvo in Hillsboro. The chips are power amplifiers that enable wireless communications inside smartphones.

Footwear maker Keen manufactures about 7 percent of its line at its Swan Island shoe factory.
